    TEEN JAMS

In August, 13-18 year-old teens are invided to go on a 5-day river rafting trip on the San Juan River in Utah. The teens and staff are driven up to the river and given instruction on what to do. Then everyone takes turns riding in rafts and kayaks down the river. Many stops are made along the way for hikes, to see petroglyphs, or to soak in a mud bath. Then at night they can pitch a tent or sleep under the stars. The trip is led by experienced tour guides. The American Cancer Society provides the rest of the staff and as always, medical personnel accompany the group on the trip.

In October, teens are invited to go houseboating for 4-days on Lake Powell. Five houseboats, two speed boats, and two waverunners make up our small flotilla. After assigning staff (including medical staff) and teens to a houseboat and storing the gear, the houseboats take off for a secluded cove. There we set up horseshoes, a volleyball net, and the teens can go fishing, waterskiing, swimming, ride the waverunners, or slide down the slides on the back of the boats. Day trips to go fishing or sightseeing to places like Rainbow Bridge are arranged daily. At night the teens can sit around a campfire, play games, or go night fishing. It is just a fabulous four days in the sun (with sunscreen of course).
